This Policy sets out the grading systems utilized at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (鈥満蠊己解 or the 鈥淚nstitute鈥) and is intended to ensure the maintenance of high academic standards.
The formal grading systems of 后宫导航 reflect academic standards commonly used in post-secondary education and provide consistency of practice across the Institute. Grading clearly communicates the educational achievements of students within a course. All course grades reflect demonstrated achievement in meeting the specific learning outcomes for that course.
This Policy applies to all students enrolled in 后宫导航 courses.
This Policy is not intended to stipulate how an Instructor evaluates student learning or provides feedback to students during a course, nor how the Instructor determines a final course grade.
Definitions
Dean 鈥 The administrative head of a 后宫导航 School.
Instructor 鈥 A person employed or engaged by 后宫导航 who is responsible for providing instruction to students or otherwise directing student learning experiences (may or may not include evaluation).
Official Student Record 鈥 As defined in 后宫导航鈥檚 Student Records Policy.
Grading Systems
1. Standard Grades
The following grades represent the following percentage and have a grade point value as noted:

2. Competency Based Grades
Some educational activity does not include graded evaluative components as in the standard grades. Competency based grades reflect a student鈥檚 achievement of course outcomes either at competency or course level. These grades are not calculated in Grade Point Average (GPA) but may affect a student鈥檚 progression to more advanced courses.
![]() | a. Mastered/Not MasteredGenerally, this grading scheme is used in courses that are intended to evaluate a student鈥檚 mastery of course competencies. For these types of grades students receive a notation of either Mastered (MAS) or Not Mastered (NMA).
b. Complete/IncompleteSome educational activity does not include any graded evaluative components and students receive a Complete/Incomplete.

3. Pass/Fail
These grades are used with courses with a graded evaluative component. They are not calculated in GPA but may affect a student鈥檚 progression to more advanced courses.

4. Temporary
A temporary grade will be assigned to a student for circumstances including demonstrable reasons for interrupted studies.
Temporary Grade | Abbreviation | Description |
Incomplete | I | Student has 60 days after the course has completed to complete the remainder of course requirements. Upon completion of the course a grade will be assigned. If requirements are not completed the student receives a failing grade. |
5. Student Transcript Notations
Administrative Grade | Abbreviation | Description |
Audit | AUD | The student either registered to participate in the course but is not evaluated OR student changed their standing to audit before the Withdrawal deadline. |
Withdrawal | W | Student has withdrawn registration from a course prior to the final withdrawal deadline. Withdrawals after final withdrawal deadlines receive a failing grade. |
Prior Learning Assessment | PLA | Student has received credit for a course based on a combination of former work history and/or educational activity. |
Transfer Credit | TC | Student has been awarded credit based on prior academic work at another post-secondary institution. |
Repeat | R | Indicates a course that has subsequently been repeated |
Student Awareness
Students are required to make themselves aware of all 后宫导航 policies and procedures. Lack of awareness of this or any other 后宫导航 policy does not excuse a student from responsibility for their actions.
